Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is rarely just the shoulder. We assess the neck, posture, and movement so we treat the real source — not only the sore spot.

Overview

Shoulder pain can make everyday tasks — reaching, lifting, even sleeping — frustrating and exhausting. Because the shoulder, neck, and upper back work as a unit, lasting relief depends on finding which one is actually driving your pain.

Why shoulder pain often starts in the neck

The nerves that power your shoulder exit through the cervical spine, so a restricted or irritated neck can refer pain and weakness into the shoulder. That is why we always evaluate your neck and posture alongside the joint itself.

How we treat shoulder pain

We combine chiropractic adjustments with targeted physical therapy to restore motion, calm irritated tissue, and rebuild the strength that keeps the joint stable.

Our Approach

From problem to outcome.

A clear, four-part path — so you always understand what’s happening and what comes next.

Step 1 — The Problem

The Problem

Shoulder pain often comes from a mix of joint restriction, soft-tissue irritation, and weakness — and frequently from the neck referring pain into the shoulder. Treating only the sore spot misses the true driver.

Step 2 — How We Evaluate

How We Evaluate

We examine the shoulder, neck, and upper back together, testing motion, strength, and the nerves that feed the joint, so we can pinpoint whether the problem is local or referred.

Step 3 — How We Treat It

How We Treat It

Care blends specific adjustments, soft-tissue work, and progressive corrective exercise to restore pain-free motion and rebuild stability around the joint.

Step 4 — Expected Outcome

Expected Outcome

Most patients regain comfortable range of motion and strength, with a clear plan to keep the shoulder resilient against re-injury.

Recovery Timeline

What progress looks like.

Every body is different, but here’s the general arc of care most patients follow.

Relief

Calm pain and restore comfortable motion.

Rebuild

Strengthen the rotator cuff and stabilizers.

Reinforce

Movement training to prevent recurrence.

Questions, Answered

Questions about shoulder pain

Often, yes. Many shoulder problems involve the neck, upper back, and movement patterns — all areas chiropractic and rehabilitation address. After an exam we will tell you honestly whether we can help or whether a referral is the better path.

It can be. The nerves that supply the shoulder pass through the neck, so a restricted cervical spine often refers pain into the shoulder. Our evaluation checks both to find the true source.

Most mechanical shoulder pain improves with conservative care. Surgery is reserved for specific structural injuries, and we will refer you if your exam suggests it is needed.

“I’ve been going here just over a month now and I’ve never had a better experience with a doctor and his team. Everyone there is so friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Drew takes the time to really know the ins and outs of your medical history before coming up with an individualized plan catered to your specific needs. I’ve had neck/shoulder pain for over a decade and seen over a handful of specialists, and Dr Drew is the only doctor who’s made me start to feel relief of my symptoms. Highly recommend!!”
